The DriveReply app runs in the background all the time, as long as GPS is selected. If DriveReply is not working when you are driving, you have likely pressed the passenger button(or GPS is disabled) and need to press the driver button. DriveReply assumes you will forget to turn it back on, so it auto-engages for you in 150 minutes after you press passenger.
Hit the phones back arrow or home button to minimize.
DriveReply is a driver safety application that runs on Android OS, Windows Mobile and some BlackBerry phones(Storm & Storm II) that assists the driver in staying focussed on the road. The phone is silenced when a call or text message comes in while the vehicle is traveling at speeds greater than 15 miles per hour.
This happens occasionally when the phone is downloading simultanesly emails and text messages and or getting a call. It is not crashing. If you get this message, like on your PC, (force quit or wait) press the wait button, as pressing the force quit button will reset the timer for your message checked.
This is a simple fix. It happens in the Android phones after install, you need to go to SETTINGS --> APPLICATIONS -> check the box UNKNOWN SOURCES. This will need to be checked to allow any install of 3rd party applications.
In the settings tab, under Audible Settings, there is an active link to make call reply active or inactive. This setting once chosen is permanent. If you want calls replied to, you will need to go back in and re-activate.

SMSReplier is a convenient SMS Auto-Reply tool that also comes with DriveReply built in. When you press messages on SMSReplier it allows you to preselect "Out of Office" type messages of all types, create your own.
When you select messages on DriveReply it allows you to customize the messages that DriveReply sends to inbound callers and texters.
Yes, your messages are always on your phone. When you come to a complete stop, the messages are their for your retrieval/response.
